Some tiles in Start Menu show gray background

Hi, build number as per forum prompt?
I just added a command prompt as a tile just to check (I don't just the dreadful Win 10 start menu) - it looks thus:
- like all the others.
Feel free to try:
Clear Live Tile Cache on Start in Windows 10
then
Backup and Restore Start Layout in Windows 10
before
Reset Start Layout in Windows 10
to see if that helps
Hi antares.
I had the same issue a while back and can tell you how to fix it for good. For me, anything else was only temporary and came back at some point down the line. I spent hours one day pegging this down. Notice the difference between your posted image and dalchina's. I'm assuming your both using the medium tile setting, at least that's how it looks. Dalchina's pic is as it should look pinned to the start menu directly from the windows\system32 folder. Notice that your cmd.exe icon is larger and does not say "Command Prompt in the lower left corner. For now, unpin it, then go to the windows \system32 folder. Right click "cmd.exe" and pin it to the start menu. It should look exactly like dalchina's now. Does it? If it doesn't, we'll go from there.
True. However I wanted antares to go directly to the source. (take the long way)Easier way to pin/unpin that:
This is just step 1 in a test if your suggested links do not work on a permanent basis.
I would really like to see all the greyed out tiles.
Hi dalchina, back to the old thread
Regarding post #2, it doesn't matter if I resize the tile to small/medium/large or if I pin it from the Start Menu or directly from the executable, the issue persists
Regarding post #4, I. don't know what tutorials are you referring to?
I read somewhere that by changing the Windows Theme (in Settings/Personalization) to the Light Theme, that the gray background vanishes. I have not tested this approach yet, will do and post back.
