Win 10 for the Win 11 User

Well, I used to be Win 11 for the Win 10 user!

I'm sure the post already exists here somewhere, but there's this ajaxStardust: "#domestic fall in the dark

    broken ribs > severed…" - Vivaldi Social

and a simple link will suffice for my needs.

I know there's StartAllBack for Win 11, which I use and make a sort of hybrid 10/11 setup.
Can I achieve that same sort of thing w/ a similar app for Win 10?

(the add image didn't work for the external URL, using the dialog suggested below)

Hi, unsure what you're asking.. but just for reference... once again, the way to post screenshots so people can see them quickly and easily is thus:
    Win 10 for the Win 11 User-screenshot.png

    Tutorial available.

When done like that, clicking on them expands the image.

Links to random external sites are generally not preferred. Thanks.

Seeking Windows 11 - like desktop environment, for Windows 10.
Not unlike the way StartAllBack offers a Windows 10 similar environment for Windows 11.

    Best regards!

So you want a Win 11 theme for Win 10... best thing is to try searching..

E.g. use a search engine: try
windows 11 theme for windows 10

    Random example:
Best Windows 11 Themes, Skins & Icons Pack For Windows 10,8,7 PC

    etc..

Then Stardock's WindowBlinds may offer a Win 11 theme... Icon Packager a set of Win 11 icons...

If you want your pc to look like Windows 11, use Windows 11.

If you want your pc to look like Windows 10, use Windows 10.

These 3rd party tools that emulate features from other OS are always flakey and often break after updates, and in the end are purely cosmetic.

Agreed- stability and modifications that survive updates and upgrades (not that Win 10 will get the latter now) are key.

I've made mine look different- but carefully and so it's stable.

That would be false , I have been using 3rd party custom themes , StartIsBack and OldNewExplorer or Window Blinds with Start10 and 11 for 15+ years and have yet to have them break my system and I have never missed or was unable to install an update , I JUST updated my Windows 10 system today with a third party theme installed without any problems whatsoever , sfc was good and Dism was good.

NOW, with that being said .... if you download and install themes from untrusted or shady sites like cleodesktop or protheme, your asking for trouble. These sites steal themes from other sites that would otherwise make themes available for free and repackage them and sell them for profit packaged in .exe files.
Rule of thumb .... if your theme file/download comes packed in an .exe file ..... don't install it, that is not how theme files are distributed.

Cosmetic? most certainly, because most of us want to get away from the boring , blah GUI called Windows.
Flakey? not by a long shot, unless you're doing something wrong.

Just because you have not had issues does not make it true for all users. Just see the number of posts on Windows 11 forums where various tools break regularly with each Insider upgrade.

    StartAllBack

Hi all! Thanks for your attention to my thread, and my sincere apologies for not looking here sooner!

I'd have to agree with those of you who suggest it will likely resolve to a less stable system overall to use those types of addons. I used to be a Window Blinds freak for a while. I'm sure I was using some hacked version at that time, but regardless, I'm not down with that sort of deep mod.

Honestly? I guess I was looking for the Win 11 start menu. I like the way you can group apps into folders by drag and drop there. That's the only thing I am thinking of at this moment (i think).
    :)

EDIT: I think I owe it to the team to mention that I have never had any issue with StartAllBack for the little mods I use it for (i like that I can get the small taskbar icons back that way, and a couple of other small things probably). So, that one seems solid to me. But I wouldn't recommend any of it to someone who is prone to having system issues for whatever reason...

Open Shell (free) - used by a good number here. Full support of drag 'n drop, folders and deep menus, Store apps, expandable in columns across screen like XP or like Win 7- appearance customisable.

Easy access to underlying folders, Control panel (expandable from start menu), own search box.

    Lots of options.

Just for interest this is mine:

Stable- 3 programs used + Open Shell (note the Orb), 1 well-known registry hack
