Enlarge Start button icon (Windows 10 logo) size

Hi. I've recently installed Windows 10 and I'm glad I found this forum.

I've customized almost everything to my liking. I've used the 7+ Taskbar Tweaker to enlarge the application icons on the taskbar but I can't find a way to enlarge the Windows start button icon size:

Is it possible to do it without editing theme / shell files ? Such edits are considered hacks nowadays and applications such as Virtualbox refuse to run on them. Besides, I don't want to change the icon, only its size.

I'm not aware of a way to change/replace/enlarge that .. perhaps if you were to find the resource and hack the appropriate file...

desktop customization - Change Windows 10 Start Menu Icon - Super User

Personally, like many here, I use Open Shell - a far more comprehensive, capable, free, customisable start menu (and you can still use Win 10's as well. That does allow you to set whatever start button you like.

Note: before something breaks (or you break something!) after all your work- ensure you use 3rd party disk imaging regularly and routinely to external storage to ensure you can always restore your complete O/S to a previous good state - even if your disk fails.

E.g. Macrium Reflect, Aomei Backupper etc. Free versions available.
System Restore is a useful complement.

Thank you. I've used Open Shell (or was that Classic Shell ?) on Win7 with lots of customization but I thought it wasn't well updated for Win10.

Good advice on keeping images. I'm using Redo Rescue which is free and very fast. I've also used Norton Ghost in the past.

From a very quick read- Redo Rescue seems to create an iso.. so protects Windows - elsewhere it says it can back up other disks or partitions. Disk imaging also offers differential/incremental imaging - not seen that for Redo Rescue. Hard to find a proper guide.

Classic Shell was its name until the original developer withdrew- a new team maintains it as Open Shell. Occasional updates.

There's a long thread about it on tenforums.

Missing the Advanced Appearance dialogue? It's possible to change quite a lot without that e.g. using Winpaletter, SMACC etc

But for file explorer-related backgrounds you need Qttabbar by quizo (free).
