How to change text color for customized theme ?

I have a severe issue with my eyes. I get dry eyes which lead to corneal erosions which is very very painful. I have a 65'' inch high resolution 4K screen. Sometimes the white color really is not bearable for me. It is sometimes so bright that my eyes start to severely hurt.

Although I use the dark theme still by default some one of the softwares has white background which was painful for me. For e.g Notepad, Filezilla, Windows Task Manager etc etc. I found a work around them via this video below.

FileZilla DarkMode - How to change all colors in Windows (10, 8.1/8, 7, Vista, XP) - YouTube

It was very helpful and it showed me the setting I needed to change in my registry to make colors of all softwares dark grey with white text. This is quite easy on my eyes now and my eyes feel a lot better. I also use the night mode through out the day and have made changes to my display settings.

The only thing now is that a few windows now show the text which is putting strain on my eyes for e.g see the two attachments below when I try to copy/paste/move any files the dialogue box text color is a little too dull to read properly.

Can someone kindly help to get these readable they text in these dialogue boxes can be black which will be easier to read or some setting which can help me please. I would be really grateful.

Hi, I can only show you what I have with light mode Windows. If interested, I can tell you how. I think in a different thread I did make some comments but I don't recall a reponse.

And as you can see, my task manager is much clearer than yours.

The background colours can be any shade you wish.

How do you change text colour?
You could try SMACC or Win paletter (free) - but be very careful.
Personally I find the first a little confusing, and the more individual changes you make, the more you may find cases where there isn't a good contrast, and the harder it is to revert.

    E.g.

To reduce the glare you just needed to make some adjustment.

How to reduce laptop brightness below minimum?

Thanks for sharing I did visit that thread but the gamma settings are really confusing for me. I do not want to mess with things until I can get a step by step guide or something please.

    Hi, Winpaletter:
How to change text color for customized theme ?-1.jpg

    - and you can see there's a video at the bottom.

I've not checked what settings it has for text, but it should help with the interface colours etc.

    There's a huge thread on SMACC - I've only tried it a few times - the author is a member - @Superfly

I searched tenforums for SMACC for you. First result:
    S.M.A.C.C - Superfly's Mouse Assisted Color Chooser

Feel free to post a question under that after reading and looking for useful comments.

You're reading too much into it. You can just download and test.

    Download Gamma Panel - MajorGeeks

Download that and run it. Click the icon in the system tray and select settings. In the window that opens move the sliders for "Gamma" "Brightness" "Contrast" until you're happy. It would be best to have a problematic window that is bright white open at the same time.

Typically you'd reduce gamma and brightness a little.

Okay so the previous post is pretty much the easy way to reduce white color glare.

Other than that those adjustments should be available in your Graphics Control Panel.

You should find your GPU details in task manager:

Once you know that you can find instuctions on how to access the graphics control panel or install it if it is missing.

    Examples:

    Nvidia Adjust Desktop Color Settings

How to Adjust Color Settings Using the Intel® Graphics Command Center - I think that Gamma is under Color.

Let us know which GPU you've got and maybe someone who has the same one can post instructions.

Really you should try downloading the portable app that I suggested in Post #6. It won't do any harm to run it. If for some reson it doesn't work, exit the program and delete the folder.

For Nvidia Graphics Control Panel see:

GeForce Garage: How To Calibrate Your Monitor | GeForce

    Note   Note

    NVIDIA Control Panel Color Adjustment

In the NVIDIA Control Panel you can quickly modify the current appearance of video content and the desktop, and easily revert the changes. This is particularly helpful if you need to change the appearance of an application temporarily, or want to permanently adjust your video output but not your carefully calibrated desktop.

GeForce Garage: How To Calibrate Your Monitor - NVIDIA Control Panel Color Adjustment

Simply right click your desktop and select the NVIDIA Control Panel top open the window.

Please note that some games and applications will override calibrations and Control Panel tweaks. To workaround this problem, you can try CPKeeper and Color Sustainer .

Would someone with NVIDIA GeForce RTX series GPU please post instructions to reduce white glare (gamma) if the above isn't correct. I can't check because I don't have access to a machine with NVIDIA GeForce.
