Size and Location for Task Manager, Control Panel, Settings
Are there any registry entries to set "Size and Location" for "Task Manager", "Control Panel" and "Settings"*?
Are there any registry entries to set "Size and Location" for "Task Manager", "Control Panel" and "Settings"*?
3rd party programs or a free scripting tool such as Autohotkey can be used to determine selected window placement and size (where windows can be resized).
No need to access the Registry, you can use standard methods like:
Position and size Task Manager Window then exit by CTRL + X that is the cross top right for closing Window.
That saves the window size and position and subsequently will open in that size and position.
Also applies to the others you mention.
You ought really to have acknowledged that this thread is a follow-on from a long exchange in
Size and Location for Task Manager, Control Panel, Settings - ElevenForum
Best of luck,
Denis
Replied in the ElevenForums thread:
For Task Manager, there appears to be a settings.json file at the following location which seems to contain some size/position data:
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TaskManager\settings.json
For Control Panel, Settings etc., I don't know.
Thanks for your answers guys;
@dalchina
That I know; nircmd has a function for setting size and location for a window, and I can write a script for autohotkey to do that.
I wanted to know if there are registry entries.
@Helmut
I know how to set size and location of a window but I want to learn if there are registry entries.

@das10
Thanks for the tip, let me try.
From this address I manipulate Windows Explorer window size and location
I have found that you can manipulate Control Panel window size and location hereCode:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Shell
You can backup all of your Task Manager Settings with this file include windows size and locationCode:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Shell\Microsoft.Windows.ControlPanel
If you erase this file it changes to default windows settings to its back. (thanks to das10)
That das10 mentioned Settings windows size and location registry settings is hereCode:C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TaskManager\settings.json
So all it is solved. (my pc is Windows 11 22h2)Code:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\ApplicationFrame\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy!microsoft.windows.immersivecontrolpanel
