How to remove search suggestions from search box.

Note this is not web suggestions, it appears on 21H2 after installing latest updates, but not on clean 21H2, also not on 1809 at all.

    Attaching screenshot.

Settings -> Search -> Clear device search history

This won't however remove those items shown in your screenshot, these are default items which are always shown.
It could be in previous versions of OS the default was different, I don't know.

In 1809 both the top apps and suggested are not there, it looks far cleaner.

Likewise in 2004+ they added auto expand, not tunable to left side of start menu, feels clunky and font size mismatches rest of UI.

In addition search box in explorer, no longer searches as you type and has weird clunky looking large font on right click menu.

The last two is kind of like how windows 8 was with two UI's meshed together.

My guess is they were adding code to 10 from the abandoned Windows 10X. these changes appeared around the time they were working on it. Dev's dont like working on multiple branches, so importing code over would be logical.

The explorer and start menu changes were initially able to be undone via the mach2 tool but now it cant be done.

The reason I made this thread though is some people dont have the suggested apps in their search box. So I figured there must be a way somehow.

Well I think we all agree that Microsoft is doing a great job at harming user experience, it's nothing new except that it gets worse with every new release of OS.

Each new release of OS is supposed to attract people to switch but the effect is completely opposite and MS doesn't do anything to fix that trend.

Or should we perhaps blame users? IDK.
