    New files/folders appear in the wrong places on the desktop

    Hello, does anyone know how to fix this bug with new file/folder icons appearing in random places on the desktop?

    "Align icons to grid" and "Auto arrange icons" enabled (don't want to change it).
    All applications for saving "sessions" of icons do not solve this problem.

    Rightclick in the desktop area and then sort by: Name or Size or Item type or Date.

    Doesn't work. After copying, sorting is turned off.

    Utilities are available which can record the current desktop icon layout and restore it when icon locations get scrambled.
    I use DesktopOK, for example. See DesktopOK 10.61 Save and restore the desktop icon positions.

    Icon locations often get changed when the desktop's resolution changes, especially if you prefer a layout which doesn't correspond to the layout that Windows prefers. (I like to arrange icons in rows instead of columns, for example.)

    Yes, but this bug has been around for as long as I can remember, at least since 7.

    So ....there was some hours wasted.

    rightclick desktop-->Appearance-->Change desktop icons-->Restore defaults.

    Restart pc

    Do you have your Desktop synced with Onedrive?
    If so, you have to quit that....of course.

    This option is only for resetting one of the windows desktop icon to default.
