Not a bug. Either some running software is changing your screen resolution or else it's set wrong along with desktop icon spacing vertical & horizontal being set in such a way that it doesn't match resolution.

The problem always happens for me if I screw about with icon spacing.

    Check default icon spacing values.

    xeo,

How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files - TenForumsTutorials

I do not understand why you are posting here instead of Windows 11 Forum
Upload and Attach Images and Files in Post - ElevenForumTutorials

Images that can be seen along with your written comments are much more useful for you than links to images.

    All the best,

Nothing changes my resolution, so maybe the second suggestion - I had custom set spacing between icons so I changed IconSpacing and IconVerticalSpacing parameters to default -1125. I also had changed custom icons size (changed by ctrl+mouse wheel) to default by choosing View/medium icons. Then sign out, sign in, uncheck "Align icons to grid" and check again... and the problem is still there.

Posting image as URL didn't work with Enhanced Attachment Uploading on and off so I put the link instead.

Sorry, I assumed that there would be more answers here because more people use this version and in 10 there is the same problem. I'll post on that forum next time.

Well, if you really want to define where icons are kept on your desktop... try
    Stardock Fences
    (not free, but inexpensive).

Group them, name the group, move the group around...

All I can say is that the problem always re-appears for me if I mess about with Desktop icon sizes, vertical and horizontal spacing or desktop icon font size or change screen resolution. Or any combination of those tweaks.

I have settings that work fine for me and restore those if the problem resurfaces.

The biggest issue folks have with icons on the Desktop is that the display of them is Dynamic, not Static like a picture on the wall. Dynamic means the Desktop is always being redrawn or refreshed, is held in memory and programs can cause the refreshing, sometimes the icons move and sometimes not. I like to use Taskbar settings, Toolbars, Desktop to have a list on the Taskbar to choose from, avoids minimizing programs to locate something [Win11 doesn't seem to have the same].
