How to modify background colour of the active/selected desktop icon?

The screenshot shows my problem. The blue background of the active icon is barely distinguishable on a well-known Windows desktop.



As a second issue, the icon text is not exactly crystal clear. The orange colour of the "Everything" icon would have been a better choice against the blue desktop colour. Is it possible to modify the colour of the icon text?

BTW: the blue Windows desktop is the nearest I can find to a "mono" desktop. If anyone can point me to a different mono colour, I could try it.
