How to turn "Send to" menu to just "Send it to Desktop"

    Hey there!

"Desktop" is the only thing I use from "Send To" menu. I know how to remove other ones, but I want to change that line to "Send it to Desktop" without having a sub-menu. How can I do it / is it possible?

    Hello @JFM,
    Welcome to TenForums.

Are you talking about changing these Registry Keys ?

    Code:

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\SendTo]
    @="{7BA4C740-9E81-11CF-99D3-00AA004AE837}"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\UserLibraryFolder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\SendTo]
    @="{7BA4C740-9E81-11CF-99D3-00AA004AE837}"

    Thank you

And yes, I am talking about changing registry keys. The code you send is default version, right?

What I am trying to do is turning "Send To > Desktop" to just "Send it to Desktop" line, without any submenu.

What you want to do is a two-step operation.
1 Add Send it to Desktop to your context menu.
2 Remove SendTo from your context menu.

This is a manual alteration that will help you do step one.
add Move to a specific folder to the context menu - TenForums
    and this addresses step two

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

I am creating a big .reg file to adjust everything with a single file, so I will go with the manual way :)

The post you send works, but the thing I want is creating the shortcut, like default "Send to > Desktop". Probably I should've made it clear at first.

And lastly, is it possible to keep positioning the same? Tried "bottom", "middle" and "top" but they didn't work for me.

It took me a while to find the correct link for step two. Did you possibly start your reply before I'd added it?

You can add the shortcut as described in those other threads.
If you're asking about how to create that shortcut itself then it's just a straightforward shortcut like any other.
    - Right-click in any blank area of your Desktop or a File explorer folder,
    - New, Shortcut
    - For the location, enter the path to your Desktop. This is, by default, C:\Users\%UserName%\Desktop and you can just paste that in {funny symbols & all}.
    - - If your username has any spaces or special characters such as & in it then enclose the path in quotes "C:\Users\%UserName%\Desktop"
    - Then just give it a name like you proposed, Send it to Desktop

My notes about positioning within context menus are just some links without any indication that I'd tried their suggestions.

Perhaps you could search TenForums. I think the subject has been discussed before.

You may find Brink's reg files in post #5 and comments further on about selecting >15 items of interest.
How to add Move to a specific folder to the context menu?

Looks like I couldn't explain well. I don't want to create shortcut of the desktop, or I don't want to move something to it.

What I want is "Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)" but single entry. So if right-click a folder and select "Send to Desktop", it will create a shortcut of that folder in the desktop.

Thank you for your reply. Good luck.

Your post said NOTHING about a shortcut so you have changed what you want. Bye!
