I use the Tutorial that @Brink provided for right-click a file or group of files or folders in the right pane of File Manager and choose whether to Copy to and pick a folder or Move to and pick a folder, haven't had any issues with the additions on Win10 or Win11. And Yes, Desktop is a folder in C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\. I don't think Microsoft was ever able to get the truly clean monitor screen or Desktop they were hyping as far back as 1995 with Windows 95. The entries in the left pane of File Manager above the My PC in Quick Access and Libraries are mostly just shortcuts to what is in C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\.

Thank you for your reply. Good luck.

Your post said NOTHING about a shortcut so you have changed what you want. Bye!
You are right, normally "Send to > Desktop" creates a shortcut by default, so I didn't mention it. But looks like I should've. I wish I could change the title right now.

Sorry I should've mention this but what I want is "Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)" but single entry. So if right-click a folder and select "Send to Desktop", it will create a shortcut of that folder in the desktop.

Looks like I couldn't explain well. I don't want to create shortcut of the desktop, or I don't want to move something to it.

It looks like I might still not understand you correctly.

I thought you were saying that you have something like this
How to turn "Send to" menu to just "Send it to Desktop"-current-context-menu.png
but you want something like this instead
How to turn "Send to" menu to just "Send it to Desktop"-future-context-menu.png

In mine, that Desktop entry is merely a shortcut to the Desktop and it has the effect of copying the selected file[s] to the Desktop.

But I now see that you mean you want something like my Desktop (Shortcut) entry instead.
Just copy that from your current SendTo folder at %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo and add that to your context menu instead of the one I suggested earlier.
It's not a standard type of shortcut so copying it is the easiest way of getting it where you want it [and I do not know how to replicate its functionality without using a script such as a PS or vbs one].

If necessary, please would you post diagrams explaining what you want.

    All the best,

    Thanks for confirming your requirement.
So it remains a two step operation but you get the shortcut that you want to add by copying it from your existing SendTo menu as I wrote near the end of my post #13.

You can rename that 'shortcut' SendTo Desktop (Create shortcut) if you want. It's just a name.

Looks like I was too fast with reply again :)

I would like to do it with a single .reg file instead of using a shortcut, but as you said it is a special kind of it so I can understand if it is not possible or hard to achieve.

    Thank you for the help

All I can say is that I have no idea how to create a 'shortcut' of that type, "DeskLink".
How to turn "Send to" menu to just "Send it to Desktop"-properties.png

So I suggest that your Registry edit needs to refer to wherever you copy that 'shortcut' to. Just as if you were using a Registry entry to call up a program.

This post appears to explain how to create a 'DeskLink' shortcut and it also seems to cover other aspects of your requirement.

No - it's just talking about normal .lnk shortcuts after all.

You know what, don't bother with it.

It wasn't a huge deal and I don't want you to spend your time more than already did. Even if it works, the position of it is another hassle that I don't want to deal with.

So thank you for all the answers, but I should be good :)
