Disable Dell Keyboard On screen display

I have a user on the Dell desktop forum that wants to disable the on screen display for keys such as "num lock" "Caps lock" etc. I've been doing some searches but didn't come up with anything specific for Dell.

What I did find, there are vendor specific apps for some. This goes along with the user reporting they display in the top middle of the screen. I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard (and mouse combo) and my display is lower right of screen.

    Any suggestions/fixes to disable it?

That Dell-specific on-screen display always used to be governed by Dell's Quickset and applied to the computer model rather than to any particular keyboard.
    - Its version could be checked in, and uninstalled from, Control panel, Programs & features.
    - You might also wish to check the Dell Drivers & downloads section for the latest version. It does not get updated very often for any given model.

I have never heard its display being described as "top middle of the screen" but Quickset has varied over time.
    - My own Quickset involves the Windows volume control appearing in place of the Quickset one [shown in earlier computers] and does not include any CapsLock or NumLock display. On previous Dells, it has included all three. My own Bios does not include any options to alter this behaviour.
    - Quickset used to govern a lot more in earlier versions. I have no idea what it does in my current computer.

Since it's a desktop, perhaps you also need to check for any keyboard utilities that have taken over Quickset's job.

    All the best,
    Denis

The user has one new Precision tower and two new Optiplex towers. Keyboards are KM5221W. Works the same on all 3. Business systems have more flexibility but I don't find a quickset listed. There is a Dell Peripheral Manager but nothing in the manual for disabling OSD.

And no setting in the Bios, I assume.
Given that you are so active in the Dell user forums, I assume there's nothing useful there either.

    Sorry I couldn't help,

I'm marking this solved, even though its not really solved.
User reports he was able to do a workaround by assigning key combinations for the functions using the Dell Peripheral Manager. No more OSD.
