    Background colors, again.

    Hello all,

Working my way through 10 and need to ask,,, It is really this hard to change FILE EXPLORER background color to light gray (not 255 255 255)

In 7 it is so easy to change the systems background (control panel, explorer, etc) using personalization / windows and appearance.

I have zero interest in dark mode or high contrast screens. The jack up more things then they solve. I have been searching the net and 99% of the articles are the same copy and paste.

I use ultimate tweaker and classic shell and see no options there either.

    Thanks in advance.

This is a picture of my windows 7. so easy to change the white,

    File explorer: use
Qttabbar by Quizo (free) - appearance settings. Choose whatever you want...
File explorer and related areas - a special case.

    Possibly useful:
    StarDock Curtains, Icon Packager
Qttabbar (free) - colours for explorer- related backgrounds
    Aerolite theme (tutorial)
    Winaero Tweaker (e.g. border width)
WinPaletter: customize Windows theme colors to your liking
    etc

so it is not me,,,,, Windows deliberately removed a working feature to make is more of a pain for the end user?

In 7 one setting changes all system backgrounds in seconds and in 10 i need to find/download/tweak to get the results that are not as good?

How is 10 possibly an upgrade.

    sorry for the rant,
    Chris

And thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

It is well known and has been extensively remarked upon that the Advanced Appearance Dialogue you will have known in Win 7 was long ago removed by MS.

    This happened in Win 8

I believe this was part of their strategy to deploy Windows across a wide range of device types.

Feel free to direct your ire at MS via the Feedback Hub app.
