    Nice papers everyone, here's one in two versions.
    I took Keith's advice
    That's really good Cliff. To save any uncertainty in the colour of the BG why don't you just put a black layer underneath the curl layer.
    and placed the curled version over black.

    looks good. Will you take a bit more advice and mask out the text from the curl. You wouldn't see it there.

    I'll take the advice, but I don't try for realism really. I'm more an abstract type.

    I just don't like the gray that page curl gives the backside, and I don't know to just change that part. Maybe use Free Select, then Colorify?

    I took a brown paper texture and put it on a layer above in multiply blend mode and masked the bits I didn't need out. It probably needs a bit more texture but you get the idea. God I'd forgotten how hard it is to do things in GIMP.

    I did the same as I did before(free select & colorify) but then used ScriptFu/Photo/Film Grain and selected:
    User Created Windows Ten Wallpapers-image-001.png

    And got this:
    User Created Windows Ten Wallpapers-test.jpg

    Yes there is always more than one way of doing things. It looks pretty much the same. In fact it probably looks better because the paper texture I used wasn't rough enough.
