Nice Cliff. I like the page curl filter. Nothing like that in Photoshop.

Thanks ya'll. I was curious how the bottom left right transparency would look when it was applied.

Yes transparency renders as black. The alpha channel is ignored which leaves RGB 0,0,0 (black).

Applied to the desktop you mean, yes black.
PNG can also be 'transcoded' to JPG when applied but I'm not 100% sure. And in that case JPG has no transparency.
Leave it to GIMP for the special effects.

Raster file formats that support transparency include GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, and JPEG 2000, through either a transparent colour or an alpha channel :)

PNG is probably your best bet. It also has lossless compression and 24bit colour. GIF is really only good for animation.

What I prefer in this regard (transparency) .....
    • .tiff with alpha channel for 3D renders
    • .bmp with alpha channel for system files (other than icons)
    • .gif for animations
    • .png for anything else.
