Why has my Windows 10 desktop Slideshow stopped working?

    Why has my Windows 10 desktop Slideshow stopped working?


    I have my desktop background set on Slideshow (and its supposed tochange the picture once a minute) but now the only way to get it to change is to literally right click the desktop and click display and when that display menu loads up the desktop shifts to a new picture… ONCE it’s supposed to do it every minute and it used
    to do this even when it was in the background with other windows open can someone please help?

    fyi i run Windows 10 Home 64bit Version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1586)

    you must group your photos in one folder then go to all settings, personalization, background and select slideshow. Within that option you can select those photos you want to use as background. hope this helps!

    Yeah I know that's exactly what I did and it worked for a very long time but one day it stopped changing automatically and only changes when I open the Personalization settings menu and I don't know how it happened or how to fix it.

    sounds weird. Did you install any windows update?

    I have the latest non-insider update available yes but I never installed an experimental Windows update.

    You could try creating a System Image and installing the update. If you have ANY problems then you could Restore the Image.

    The slideshow feature on my Windows 10 has always been broken, for years. It will work for a while, then just stop changing images for no apparent reason. I have resorted to a number of different 3rd-party applications which actually work. My current one is
    "Wallpaper Slideshow LT".
