Well, one way to do it is choose "Sign Out" while you're IN Windows.

Sounds like you may be using a local account with no password. At start up it will sign you in straight away as it doesn't need to ask for a password.

If so, then you have two options, the first is to set a password for your account.

Add Password to Local Account in Windows 10

The second is, once it has started up and signed you in, to then sign out. Then you'll be at the sign in screen and have a choice of accounts.

    Sign out of Windows 10

No, what I mean is that it still signs out when you shut down, but if you have a local account with no password then when you start up it won't stop at the sign in screen to ask for your password. If so, and you want to sign in to the other account, just sign out yourself to get back to the sign in screen.

@Bree that's true i never use a password for login in win 7, but it always stop at login screen by default as i have 2 local accounts for loging to PC. As you say so "when you start up it won't stop at the sign in screen to ask for your password." its make me smile as well :) but it's strange the win 7 option in this regards is much much better then this which we have here i hope in future they make this change in any update of win 10

I use blank passwords too, and I like that I do not need to click anything to sign in at start up. I also have several accounts, if I want to sign into any of the others I can sign out to do so, or more often switch to the other account as Ghot suggests in post #4. That way I can leave apps running in the first account and they'll still be there when I sign out of the second and switch back.

I doubt that they will change this behaviour , it's been this way since Windows 8 and remains the same in Windows 11.

There is a way to make it stop at the sign in screen if that's what you want. Set it up to automatically sign you in with one of your accounts, but deliberately set it up with an incorrect password.
