Is it possible to have rounded window corners in W10?

    Hi.

I have been looking for a way to enable rounded edges in all windows in W10?
Is there a 3rd-party way to do this or is it totally dependent on the GUI code?

    No, I don't want Windows 11.

    TIA

Hi, Stardock's Curtains (low cost, non-intrusive) allows this, if you choose an appropriate style/theme - or indeed create your own. Whether the corners are rounded or not depends on the image files used.

    Example:

Curtains - Eleven Blue (FREE DOWNLOAD) | WinCustomize.com

Curtains comes with a small set of styles- many more are available on line.

Here I've taken the only one I found that offers a small degree of transparency - if you look very closely the corners are not quite square:

Curtains is not WindowBlinds. It's less intrusive. Where a program has a non-standard frame, the Curtains style is not applied.

Styles can be applied with just a click. Curtains must be running - uses minimal RAM.

And there are plenty of guides like this
How to Turn Windows 10 Into Windows 11 When You Can’t Actually Update
if you really want to go further.

Here I've used a set of Vista icons with Stardock's IconPackager:

My aim has been to avoid using UXtheme patcher or similar, have something that survives feature updates, and is easy to change or remove and does not modify system files.

    @dalchina -

    Thank you for these resources.

I'll investigate Stardock again but I found many of their products to be half-baked.

I was cautious, but have been running Curtains and Iconpackager on both 21H2 and 1903- no issues.

LOL. The Stardock Curtains trial won't let me download the Windows 11 layout.

Well trial software will have limitations... as you'll know.

First you can download and save that- it's just a file from a web site.

    Curtains styles are saved here:
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\Curtains\

Maybe if you manually place the file there, Curtains will be able to open it. I can't tell you if that's subject to any sort of trial restriction.

The program offers a range of other settings worth exploring, as well as the ability to modify styles.

Some styles come with differentiated active and inactive taskbar shades, others don't. In the case of the one I chose, it doesn't, so I changed the colour of inactive taskbar text.

Here's 1 Win 11 style: (there are more- dark versions too).

That was never my experience. Downloading and installing programs is a routine task. My comment about trial software is about function, not that and should NOT be taken out of context. Thank you.

Suggest you try again or take the issue up with Stardock. I can't help you, sorry.

    What, you're worried about $9.99?

I actually got the package - Object Desktop- for half price- about $20 or so.. so I use Icon Packager and Fences...
