Hi all - I've got both my Dropbox and OneDrive in non-standard folders (G:\OneDrive and D:\Dropbox). I've noticed that in my [Username] folder - OneDrive shows up, but Dropbox does not since it is not in a standard location. I'd like to add dropbox to my username folder, but of the two methods of doing so of which i am aware, each one has a tradeoff i don't love:

1) .lnk shortcut -- .lnk files don't get treated as actual folders, and thus i lose the expand/collapse ability when accessing it from [Username]\Dropbox in the navigation pane. [yes, i know dropbox has it's own standalone nav pane item - i'd like to hide that and replace it with the same functionality from username folder, if possible]

2) Symbolic Link - if i access files/folders vis a vis the symbolic link, the path doesn't resolve. I find myself needing to copy and use file paths frequently. with a symbolic link, i'd get "c:\users\username\dropbox..." instead of "d:\dropbox". It's a valid path and works, but for the sake of tidiness and future proofing any scripts i write, would rather just have all file paths consistently be "D:\Dropbox..." irrespective of whether i access that file/folder directly from dropbox or from the username folder link.

Basically, i think what i want is a symbolic/hard link but for which the paths automatically resolve to the original, linked-to path. I've noticed that the onedrive link in my username folder does exactly this, even though it is also not actually physically located within my username folder - can the same be achieved with a non-MS folder like Dropbox?

i'm on windows 11 but i don't think it matters - i've long wondered if this could be done even on w10.
