    The option that would allow me to apply my accent color to the task bar is grayed out for some reason.
    Thank you.
    Specifically that option is grayed out even under 'Custom' when you choose 'Light' for default Windows mode.

    You must choose 'Dark' for 'default Windows mode'.
    and either 'Light' or 'Dark' for 'default app mode'.

    Then the 'accent color' for Start, taskbar and action center will be available

    Worth noting: The 'Dark' for 'default Windows mode' isn't as dark as you think with 'Light' set for 'default app mode'

    With the exception of this one problem, I have the colors the way I want them. If I mess with them now, returning to the colors I have now may be a lot of work. One thing I've noticed is that Windows 10 is Less customizable than Windows 7. Changing a particular selection can cause many changes to occur. Also, I don't seem to have all the same options that other people do, so I'm not going to follow your advice. But thanks anyway.

    I did end up doing a lot of experimenting, and nothing I did got Windows to give me access to that option.

    I did end up accessing that feature, but it didn't resolve the problem of not enough contrast between the active window and the inactive windows.

    @Caleb Murdock

    This is the most I could get, with just the Windows settings in post #8 and the desktop set to a solid color... black.

    Black just isn't my color. And as it turned out, that setting didn't do anything to make the current window tab stand out against all the others.

    Here is a screenshot which shows the problem. The red arrow is pointing at the currently active tab, and I really need more contrast than that.
