The tutorials are kept as up to date as is reasonably possible, given the changes MS keeps making to Windows.
That tutorial, for example, is quite often cited and used.
Winaero's tweaker is excellent, often implementing things laid out in some of the tutorials here, and with full explanations for most. However it doesn't try to address any sort of optimisation.
If you see something that is both old and actually not now correct or applicable, feel free to post a comment under the relevant tutorial, for example, before dismissing it.
You would have to know exactly what you're doing with services and their interaction with features and with one another, with no certainty of any performance gain.
@Paul Black - just thinking of when you looked into Windows services- did you achieve any real benefit? Thanks.
