    @Brink,

    Thanks, but that did NOT clear it unfortunately.

    Well thanks, Paul.

    Like I really required more corruption to chase down M$ horrors in the OS.

    I spent much more time than I'm willing to admit and came up empty. I did locate some interesting tidbits and thought I'd share those with you, hoping they'll lead you somewhere and just sharing the cleaning obsession.

    Sorry. Thanks for taking the time to investigate. I tried ALL the options you gave but to NO avail.

    @Ghot,

    Thanks, but unfortunately, my Registry Key does NOT have an entry for MS Edge at all.

    @Paul Black

    I use Bitdefender Internet Security (it has an excellent firewall).

    I just blocked Edge in the firewall.
    Late at might I hear it wimpering.
    But, I don't care.

    I cannot remove "Open with Microsoft Edge" in the Right-Click menu, but I also uninstalled Edge from my computer before trying to remove the menu selection. What I should've done was installed my PDF reader first, removed Edge from Open With and then uninstalled Edge. It seems that its stuck there frozen forever. I did however use another tips page here on TenForums to learn how to find the "Choose default apps by file type" settings page and circumvent the popup error that appeared every time I double clicked a PDF to open it. Now I dont need Open With for this but that Edge is still in there is annoying.

    Hi, please try the Default Programs Editor (free):
    Remove Edge from Open With Context Menu-1.jpg

    - it might help.

    (I'd rather not mess around with my own settings)

    Considering post #3 and MS's determination to enforce the use of Edge, it's likely it's included in the Open With list by the O/S in a manner precluding its removal.

    This is what I did to remove (old)Edge from PDF open with context menu.

    1) In [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\OpenWithProgids] I added an underline at the end of AppXd4nrz8ff68srnhf9t5a8sbjyar1cr723
    "AppXd4nrz8ff68srnhf9t5a8sbjyar1cr723_"=hex(0):

    2) In [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\AppXd4nrz8ff68srnhf9t5a8sbjyar1cr723] I added an underline to AppXd4nrz8ff68srnhf9t5a8sbjyar1cr723 as well and it looks now like
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\AppXd4nrz8ff68srnhf9t5a8sbjyar1cr723_]

    Windows is now unable to find (old)Edge when I right click a PDF file.
    The new Edge browser is not installed on my system and the old legacy Edge option always came up when right clicking a PDF.
    Now it does no longer show up.
