Eliminate weather icon in the tray bar

    Good morning.
With the last update (19043.1052), the weather icon appeared in the tray bar, I ask if you hesitate a registry key.
    Thank you

Hi, does this not work for you?

Note: if you turn it off, it seems that if you have 3rd party programs running that hook to the taskbar, you may experience issues with the system tray display.

Issues like this were widely reported (general search) for the preview update that introduced this.

There's a relevant tutorial - in the Tutorials section - which you are always free to browse and search.
How to Enable or Disable News and Interests on Taskbar in Windows 10

It includes group policy and an equivalent reg file.

Thank you all very much for the very useful information.
Works, with registry keys, you only need to make a desktop refresh.
    Very kind.

    dalchina,

Thanks for making that comment. You encouraged me to see if it might also be responsible for my Task mgr icon disappearing from my SysTray [whether its window was open or minimized] after I installed KB5003637 CU.

I had removed the News & whatever icon from my Taskbar [using the Taskbar context menu] and wondered if this action had started the problem.
    - I put News & whathaveyou back on the Taskbar *** and my SysTray TaskMgr icon reappeared [and stayed there when minimised]
    - I removed News & blather from my Taskbar again and this time my SysTray TaskMgr icon remained visible [and stayed there when minimised]
    - I rebooted to check it would behave itself afterwards and it does.

*** On one computer I had to reboot at his stage to get Task mgr to reappear

I have also posted this in the KB5003637 CU thread in the hope that it might help somebody else as well.

    All the best,
    Denis

@Try3 - I've tried closing everything bar Avast and Stardock Curtains so far, and still the whole notification area disappears about 1-2 mins after closing News and Interests. Speculatively the timing might be related to updates of News and Interests.

I saw this first with the preview update, and still true now after the CU.

Clearly as many have no problems but problems have been widely reported something's going on.

I also had the problem with the preview update.
Since yesterday's update, if I right click and open Task Manager, then the notification area disappears.
Turning on news and interests restores it and then turning off news and interests has no adverse effect.
So all is good until I open Task Manager

    trevo, dalchina,

I've added to my post #5.

On a second computer, I had to reboot mid-procedure to get the Task mgr icon to re-appear.

I have no idea why my fix varies across computers.
    - They both have the same applications & the same settings & have both had the update history for a year but the first one has a longer history [first one is about 4 years old, the second only 1 year].
