Eliminate both logo screen and Welcome screen at first boot?

When I start my computer, I get the usual fast-flash things that happen during BIOS startup, and then I get (1) the screen with just the Windows 10 logo and a spinner on it, and that is followed by (2) a screen that shows my User Name and the word Welcome, and then I see my desktop. I don't have to hit any keys.

I searched the tutorials for a way to eliminate the (1) and (2) screens, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Of course, it's entirely possible that my answer is there and I missed it. If so, please direct me to the appropriate page.

I know the startup loading has to take place, but I don't think the (1) and (2) screens are necessary during that loading.

This is an entirely unimportant issue in the grander scheme of Windows 10 things. I'm just curious about whether this elimination of (1) and (2) can be done.

In lieu of a solution can only offer the information that nearly all Operating Systems show some type of brand name after the BIOS has finished loading and they start loading, some are simple like Linux Mint that shows only its logo, nothing like the spinning dots of Windows. Might be able to change the login background, some on forums have done it.

    Hey, Berton,

    Thanks for commenting.
Re: your "Might be able to change the login background, some on forums have done it."
I've done it, too. Plain, single-colour background.

I know I can kill the spinners as well, but I tried that and it doesn't reduce the number of seconds (not many, to be sure) that the logo screen and the Welcome screen require.

No. They cannot be disabled/skipped/bypassed. Loading a plain color sign-in screen is the best you'll get. You cannot remove the POST logo screen at all. You can modify the reg to disable a 10 second windows startup delay that is enabled by default though...

aside from those.. just tweak services and startup programs. You can get old msconfig from winaero and it handles that stuff easier/better (imo).

    Hi Dan,

Check this tutorial. I haven't tried it yet, I'm not ready to restart.

I believe you can also set the Startup delay on the boot tab using a GUI instead of a reg tweak. I have mine set to 1 sec.

I don't know if this will also hide the rotating dots, please let us know if you choose to test the tutorial.

How do I disable the Windows loading splash screen?

Look what I found in WinAero Tweaker.

I'm not certain you should disable text messages, I have mine set to verbose for more details. I'm going to tryout ditching the logo & spinning dots though.

Thanks, you guys, for your time and your research.

Checked the tutorial, which happened to be the same solution (in msconfig > boot) you (W10 T) posted the screenshot of. I already had No GUI and 3 secs set.

I think your "No. They cannot be disabled/skipped/bypassed. " is right, dacrone, but I'll wait now to see what W10 finds out from his Winaero Tweaker. I'm skeptical. I think he'll just get the same pages without the logo and without the spinner. I think we just have to live with those two screens.

There are worse fates. Like a pandemic, for instance.

    Thanks again.

LOL, I would be surprised if the WinAero tweaks are anything more than removing the Windows logo and spinning bits.

Were you hoping to replace the entire background with a palette colour of your preference?

I have to start on making dinner but might be back to test the WinAero solution and look around a bit more.

WinAero Tweaker is loaded with useful tweaks and one of the many great features is that Sergey will often show how the tweaks function in Windows, that makes using it educational.

I prefer to manually tweak the registry settings but admit, sometimes I might cheat and use WinAero Tweaker.

Here's another option to create your own splash screen.

    WARNING!

Do not attempt attempt using this procedure on a Legacy bios type PC, your device could become unbootable as per Paul Black's post #12.

Change Windows boot logo for Legacy bios

Caveat, I haven't tested either of the above two solutions, use at you own risk.

Please create a restore point and an OS image using Macrium Reflect Free or similar app before preceding.

Thanks to Paul for the warning.

Thanks very much, WT, but I'm really only interested in doing entirely away with those screens, not in changing what they show. Changing the background, simplifying the image, un-showing the logo, and un-showing the spinner all together would leave us with the two screens still, just looking different from before. You're well aware that setting autologin on does away with the screen that asks for your PIN or p/w. That screen just doesn't show up at all, which is what I was seeking for the logo screen and the Welcome screen. Ah, well. Such is life. not arguing.. but you know that auto logon does not actually do away with that screen either right? it just inputs your credentials for you. if there is a way to completely bypass the POST and Sign-in screens, i would love to know it. that would save about 10 more seconds on boot... which would make it virtually instantaneous lol.
