Windows Spotlight Not Working Win 10

Hello everyone. I just joined this forum in hopes I can actually get a question answered that no one seems to be able to do. I have been given many solutions but all of them do not work. I have a 2019 Alienware 17 with an i9 processor and 32GB RAM.

I have used Windows Spotlight for a few years and occasionally had it stop working after I had the gall to click on "Not A Fan" on 2 pictures in one day! I always used the solution where you delete the picture files and rename the 2 registry entries. Solution below.

It worked each time. But about a week ago Spotlight just completely stopped working and it wasn't due to anything I did. I needed to do a reimage and so I just did. Then reimage was a deep reset wiping the drive and getting rid of all setting and files. I did every update and have a very solid and stable image.

When I went to set up Windows Spotlight is selected but still isn't working at all. There is just that same stock picture that it had before the reimage. Once again I went through the same procedure as above and also was given several other methods to restore and it still will do nothing. This is the string that I was on and all the things I tried.

Needless to say I am beyond frustrated. Did MS make some change in an update that messed this feature up? Any solutions?

Thank you Brink but as I stated I have already done that fix and many others. I left the links there to see what I have done. This one has n effect and I did wait for 24 hours and beyond.

Sorry, I didn’t see any indication that you had run the .bat file.
The .bat file does more than delete the contents of the Assets folder & remove the registry entries from what I can see when it’s running.
Did you switch Spotlight to picture before running the fix?
Are the photos downloading to the Assets folder? %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalSta te\Assets
Sometimes the fix needs to be run a few times for it to fully work.

I have run this fix at least 10 times. It doesn't make any difference. I just ran it less than an hour ago. The folder is full again but the lock screen shows no image0 The reason it is blank is because I implemented another fix that removes the MS pictures from the system lock screen folder otherwise it would be defaulting back to the same picture. Yes I did switch it to picture before resetting reregistering it.

The fix can take 24-48 hours to work. Have you waited that amount of time?
I helped another user with the same problem a few days ago & after 24 hours they saw a new picture.

Since I just did it an hour ago 24 hours haven't passed yet. I will wait but I have done this multiple times.

    @sidscrat
I am having the exact same problem as you are.
It started with a Bing picture being stuck for a few days (happened before) and then the stock image came on and stayed on.
Since my system was due for a major "overhaul" i went on and did a clean install, with the latest Windows 10 (used media creation tool a week ago).
I did a clean install three times and every time spotlight stays on the same stock picture.

Reset and Re-register spotlight (.bat file by Brink)
    Waited more than 48 hours.
Manually deleted the files that the .bat file does.
    Re-registered.
Done all of the above multiple times.
dism and sfc returns no errors

    It's driving me crazy.
Even more so because it's something that you notice every time you open up the PC.
The equivalent of having a nice car with a huge scratch down the side.

Well, at least i'm not alone.

@Damun, "The equivalent of having a nice car with a huge scratch down the side." This is a perfect way of looking at it,. What is baffling is how many people have struggled with this issue and MS still hasn't fixed the issue. I used to have it stop working occasionally but the deleting files and renaming .bat scheme worked but not now or anything else. It seems MS may have done an update that messed it up. I really liked that feature.

After 48 hours after the last reset, reregistration, I finally have Spotlight working again. Since I did that step several times and othesr I am not certain which one worked.
