Setting Language for Menus and local (keyboard, time forma) different?

What I aim for is to set the language of my computer to English (so that all menus/erorrs/ helps is English) but to support for other things another local.

    • the time should have a different time zone. (UTC+1)
    • time format displayed should be iso (24:00, not with AM/PM)
    • date format displayed in an iso format (2021-02-04 or 04.02.2021 (not with flipped month 02/04/21))
    • the Keyboard layout should be de-DE (German)

But still the menu should be in English.

Is there a way to archive that (during clean install or later on)?

    KR,

    Max,

You can set the language you way you want it at
    Settings, Time & language, Language
    then, quite separately, set up
Settings, Time & language, Region [and its sub-menu items in Change data formats].

The keyboard settings ["Input language"] are in sub-menus within
Settings, Time & language, Language, Keyboard
and you should also check the sub-meu items within
    Spelling, typing, & keyboard settings

    Hi Folks
Don't forget also in the "Advanced" section to check the box "Display welcome screen logon etc" in the relevant language too

In English on the right half of the screen image it's select Advanced language settings then on the popup box on the left open the bar and click the checkbox.

For alternate keyboards you can have as many as you like and apply as input method to any languge you want as well

    e.g

Another trick you can do if you have Office -any version from 2010 onwards -- you can add different languges (or LIP's if the full language isn't available) and if for example you install in Language A but you do a lot of writing / editing in language B you can change the editing language -- that way say replying to ENG emails with German office you won't get nearly every word marked as spelling error !!!!.

Be warned though sometimes on the newer Windows Updates for some languages Windows can get pretty hosed up giving some bits in one language and others in the other choice(s). Build 20H1 19043.906 seems pretty OK -- also this defect is probably more likely to occur with lesser used languages -- major ones like English and German should be OK though.

    Cheers
