20H2 Start Menu App Tiles Background Color

So after updating to 20H2 the default color of app tiles in the Start Menu changed. Previously, things looked like the Theme settings preview (see first image). Now, however, App Tiles are just Dark Gray on a Black background.

I know that it is possible to have different color backgrounds for app tiles. If I have to go somewhere and edit something, that's fine but if there's some setting I'm missing that's better.

    Thanks in advance!

Windows Ver. 20H2 (OS Build 19042.746)

Welcome to TenForums SGbun. Right click an empty section of the taskbar and select Taskbar Settings. Select Colors and choose the color you like and check the box at the bottom for Start, Taskbar and Action Center.

@Lance1 Unfortunately that doesn't do it unless I need to restart

Your pic notes that the box I mentioned is not checked.

Ah my bad. It wasn't checked in your so I thought that was the one you were talking about. Here's the proper one.

The problem w/ this is that it still doesn't resolve the visibility/contrast issue.

I guess more specifically I'm looking for like a black background but for the app tiles themselves to be green or whatever the accent color is. At the very least if they could have like an outline that would work. Before 20H2 the background of the apps could be the same as the accent color like in this pic (ignore the annotations)

Are you at Windows 10 20H2? press Windows Key + R and type winver Since 20H2 Microsoft has removed the system accent color behind tiles. This is called "Theme Aware Tiles" in Start. Changing the individual colors of the tiles is no longer possible.

Ok so something with the tiles did change in 20H2. I don't necessarily care about individual tiles I just want the default color to be different.

Yes there was a change in 20H2.

I use gray on top of dark gray, it looks great with the Dark Legacy Forum skin.

Did a little searching and this was brought up before:

Change color of tiles in Windows Start Menu?

    Word of caution
1 post member said he tried the registry tweak and said it works but has not posted again.
