Windows Spotlight "Like What You See" Missing

Windows 10 Pro Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.746)

A few months ago I took an update (not sure which one), but it was an update that enabled a sign-on feature that required a user to send "ctrl+alt+del" in order to login. Previously, we could enter our PIN by simply pressing any key to bring up the PIN input box.

Anyway, around this same time my lockscreen stopped showing "Like What You See". I've tried many different ways to resolve this. None have worked.

I keep seeing amazing photos of locations I must put on my travel bucket list... but alas, I'm left to wonder where on earth they are.

Hi leftheaded, welcome to Ten Forums.

Try searching Lock Screen from the taskbar. Is the button in the 'On' position?

Unfortunately, I have Spotlight disabled and have no real method to test the suggestion above, sorry. I could also suggest you use Google image search. It should make the task easy and won't clutter up your screen.

Also, AFAIK, Spotlight frequently fails to load properly and may require to be initialized again. See this tutorial.

It's working! Like most things, it worked after I finally asked for help.

The last change - the one that evidently worked was this (taken from windows community support thread). the only addition from me is that I'd say you have to wait about an hour for the updates to propagate and take effect.

Go into the Settings App - Personalisation - LockScreen

Set Background to picture and choose one

Then open Windows File Explorer and paste each of these into the Address Bar one at a time and delete everything in each folder

    %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets

    %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\Settings

Then right click your Start Button, choose Powershell (admin)

Run (copy and paste) this command and hit Enter

    Get-AppxPackage -allusers *ContentDeliveryManager* | foreach {Add-AppxPackage "$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode -register }

    Restart your PC

Go into the Settings App - Personalisation - LockScreen

    Set Background to Windows Spotlight

    Congrats on finding a solution.
