faint hovered and selected item box - how do I change the color

I can barely see the hovered and selected item pale blue default,

how do I make this a more visible color?

I've gone through several third-party apps that have allowed me to change text highlight background, and options for the drag select box, but I can't seem to find anything at all to help me with one I'm referring to here.

Hi, could you post a screenshot illustrating what you see?

In some cases adjusting your graphics settings can help to make things clearer. Your specs say nothing about your graphics though - e.g. Intel HD Graphics:

-to the right I've added an illustration of my file explorer select and hover.

On a related note, see also this tutorial:

The free SMACC utility by member Superfly may be of interest.

These don't appear to relate to the hover highlight colour though.

I certainly don't want to change everything - whole themes for Windows or brightness/contrast monitor-wide settings. I just want the icon and file selection box to be more visible, everything else is f- ... well, different problems for another day.

I want to know what the faint color box of a hovered or selected item is called so I can find a way to make it a more visible color.

not talking about text. Color Classic is able to change highlight and highlighted text colors just fine.
what I can't change is item highlighting

Thank you so much for your kind reply.

Kindly use forum features to post screenshots. This is what yours shows- I can make nothing of it.

Do not be deceived by my screenshot- the highlight colours and selection are no different to default.

That is not a 3rd party theme either.

    Don't we all.

though it's more visible on my desktop with a black wallpaper, the one on white file explorer windows is still wrong for me (I also do not wish to change to 'dark' mode and make my text white and backgrounds black -- I want that old menu where you could select from a list or click on various parts of examples and see the options to change their properties - font and color and so forth.

who are the geniuses who decide to get rid of features that have already been written and paid for on previous versions, it really makes no sense to me
