"Settings" > "Personalization" settings window frozen??

    Hey Forum Folke,

Having a problem with Windows (so what else is new?) I'm trying to change my wallpaper/desktop background images into a slideshow format. Went to "Settings" > "Personalization" and clicked on the wallpaper settings, and tried to select the folder where I had downloaded a bunch of .jpg images of the Utah desert, and it wouldn't display any files at all. Backed out, opened up File Explorer, looked at the folder, and sure enough, they're all in there. Went back to "Settings" > "Personalize", and I suddenly find that "Settings" > "Personalization" is totally unresponsive. If I click on it, absolutely nothing happens; the entire "Settings" window ignores me. If I blow out then back in and type "Wallpaper" into the input field, and click on any of the three items offered, the whole window freezes up again. Oddly enough, it DOES use the wallpaper .jpg files I wanted it to use in the first place; must be that when I was there the first time, when it didn't like the folder I showed it, it changed the setting anyway, and now it's working as the settings were already at (slideshow, change every 1 minute)... but I can't get in to make any other changes now. All the other "Settings" selections work, only "Personalization" doesn't... and if I click on it anyway, then NONE of the others will subsequently work; have to close it and re-open it to get them working... and still "Personalization" isn't working. It's dead, Jim!

System specs are: Dell Inspiron 5755, Win 10 Home version 1909, AMD A8 quad-core (AMD A8-7410 APU), 8 Gb RAM, AMD Radeon R5 graphics.

Hi, the routine steps might be
How to Reset Settings App in Windows 10

or to re-register Settings- see the appropriate command here, noting the different options, and taking care to follow the instructions on running the selected command:

    Hi dalchina,

Thanks for the suggestions. As I continued to use it, it got progressively more 'squirrely' and unstable; I finally did a user log-out, then logged back in... and now it's working. Not a clue what happened or why, but it's okay now... until the next weird Windows glitch. Starting to wonder if maybe Linux might not be a better way to go.....

A basic thought on Windows glitches- many upgrades and some updates come with baggage- a set of issues which some or all experience. For various reasons I'm staying with 1903 for now on my 2 PCs, and everything's been stable for ages, even though I've applied the odd update and installed or uninstalled some programs.
