How can you add other colours?

Thinking beyond the start menu and taskbar: there are some things you can do that are stable and relatively easy; I've never worried about the Start Menu though as I use Open Shell (free) mostly.

Background colours: explorer-related: Qttabbar by Quizo (free) - does much more than just allow you to change colours. Many features. Occasional updates.

Other backgrounds: a simple widely published regedit.

Also see the free tool SMACC by member Superfly. (Google)

Thanks, but these programs corrupt Windows and do not give the desired result

corrupt? really? on what evidence? I and others have been using Qttabbar for a long time.

As for the background registry changes, these were what were available in Win 7 in a dialogue that disappeared in Win 8.

Perhaps you should write to Satya Nadella laying out your specific requirements for the GUI.

And you should certainly tell @Superfly that you think his program 'corrupts' Windows.

    Good luck.

I'm not sure what you need but there's a custom colour box in settings and a couple of settings for the accent colour that you can create.

It's possible to pick a custom colour for the background.

    Your request is NOT clear!

There is a host of areas within Windows who's elements are governed by thousands of registry entries, dynamic library listings, visual element manifests, etc.

If you are referring to the background of the screenshot you posted in bright red, your out of luck!
You get Light and Dark, period.
