How to Create Icons For Desktop and Documents?

When I was on Windows 7, I had created icons for my desktop and one for My Documents which I placed in the taskbar.
They stayed there when it upgraded to WIN10.
I now have a new system and NEED them back.
I can't find the website as there are so many hits now with the search words used.

Anyone know how to do this in Win10?

Here' the icons I had made. "X" is for Documents and desktop is for, well, desktop of course.
Click the X and a new window opens each time.

I figured out how to get a Documents icon, (the X) and a desktop icon. However the desktop icon does not take me to the official Desktop, it takes me to the file desktop. If that makes any sense......I like to go to the real desktop where I have a nice background pic.

Your shortcut takes you to wherever you have told it to take you.
Go back to wherever you made this shortcut, right-click on it, select Properties & see what's in its Target field.

Your Desktop is, by default, at C:\Users\%username%\Desktop.
    - You can paste C:\Users\%username%\Desktop straight into the File explorer address bar and it will take you stright there.
    - There are no such things as 'official Desktop', 'file desktop' or 'real Desktop', just Desktop.

The thing you see as the background when using your computer is your C:\Users\%username%\Desktop folder.
    - You can change its appearance by right-clicking in an unused area and selecting Personalise.

if you mean you want to minimize all windows and see desktop with the shortcut like windows xp?

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{3080F90D-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257} < use this and create a shortcut, then pin it to taskbar

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group1 < there is already exist here

%SystemRoot%\System32\SHELL32.dll < your x icon is in it, make a shortcut to your documents folder, change its icon to X (right clik>properties>change icon)>search for your x icon

    Thanks.

Yes, that's what I mean. Minimize all windows revealing desktop. I have one on my WIN10 at work. Just like XP, but cannot find the site I got the instructions from. I have already figured out the "file" Document and Desktop shortcut icons. Just need to get the shortcut to minimize all windows and reveal the "real" desktop.

Clicking that little slice in the corner is utter nonsense. I have no idea what MS was thinking with that.
Oh, how I miss my XP. Although, my 10 at work has all the icons set up, not too bad. Just the photo viewing is the main drawback now.

winkey+d..........this is kinda good, however, old guy here, I don't use keyboard shortcuts as they don't really feel like a shortcut. I will find the solution and post it here eventually.

Personally, I never go to the Desktop. Just like most others, I have folders and icons and such on my desktop (but they're hidden). Instead of wasting time going to the desktop, I create a Desktop toolbar that allows me direct access to any folder or file on my Desktop without ever having to actually go to the Desktop.

I go to two places. The actual desktop and the folder desktop so I can drag and drop stuff easily that I have saved.
I don't "have" to go to the real desktop, but I do.

To go to desktop file, yes, but to minimize all, no.
Unless I am doing something wrong, that is.
I will investigate further when I get home.

Or investigate the use of Peek, a vertical bar at the right end of the Taskbar. The mouse "hover" allows temporary view of the desktop behind open programs and also a click to minimize all open program.
