Windows Slideshow, is there a max number of images it cycles through?

I have the windows slideshow that activates when my machine is locked. Is there a maximum number of images that it uses to cycle through?

I have it pointing to my pictures folder, but it only seems to ever use stuff from several years ago, never anything new. I have a lot of images in that folder (over 9k at this point) and about 70% are jpgs that Slideshow can read, the rest are RAW files. I tested throwing a timelapse sequence in there, which was several hunderd jpg's of the same scene, figuring at some point I would see one of the images from that group, but it has been 3 months and still haven't seen one pop up on the lock screen. I have tried rebooting, changing the directory away and back again and rebooting. I always get the same images, none of the new ones.

My WIndows version is build 1903, build 18362.1016

    Thanks,

The thing about RAW images from a camera is they usually are large, have seen 20MB, while the same image as JPEG is somewhere between 2.5MB and 5MB, which may be an issue. Also, the images desired has worked better for me when all in the same folder, doesn't seem to read subfolders

Yeah, I wasn't expecting the RAW's to be used, which is why I have been converting a lot of them to JPG so the slideshow would pick them up, but it seems to stop at a certain point and not use large sections of the list. It doesn't seem to have trouble pulling from subfolders. I may just go ahead and make a dedicated folder for the slideshow and move just the jpg's in there.

Your My Computer shows you have 64GB RAM and a quick check of the Internet shows the GTX 980 may have 6GB so memory shouldn't be an issue. Programs running or in the background could be interfering. Have you tried a third-party program that can play a slideshow, does the problem come at about the same point as the Windows slideshow or screensaver? Other than that I haven't a clue where the issue arises.
