Taskbar Color Change

I did a W10 update yesterday. (W10, Version 2004. OS Build 19041.450) It changed the look of a lot of things on my computer in small ways. Have been able to address most, if not all, of those except my taskbar changed from black to white. Every time I try and change the color of the taskbar back to black, the action changes the background color of things like my chosen search engine, (DuckDuckGo) Action Center and lists I have in files to black also. The only thing I'm trying to change to black is the taskbar.

To change the color of the taskbar, I go to Start>Settings>Personalization>Colors> then I choose Dark>and check Automatically pick an accent color from my background. Then I check Start, Taskbar and Action Center to designate what I want dark. Then when I go to my search engine or files, the backgrounds are dark and I can't find a way to change them back to white without affecting the taskbar.

I've done that............except I don't get the Default App Mode option.

BINGO!!!!! That solved the problem. Thanks. On your #2 I was choosing Dark instead of Custom. Thank you.

Why does windows make simple things so polluted?

I have my task bar, start and background color correct but all of the backgrounds "This PC" are eye burning bright white.
If I change the "choose your color" back to dark all of the "PC" windows are now black but with baby blue with white text.

I have been messing with it for hours and it has to be the dumbest interface. Maybe it is very customizable but what a headache.

Also,, I was going to just choose a contrast theme but is messes up my brokerage account colors (red/green etc.) Can not find an easy way to omit the them from other programs.

Is there a third party software that makes this more easily used
