Thanks for the super fast respond! I used Transparent_shortcut_overlay.reg and Blank_shortcut_overlay.reg from that link.

No, it didn't because I don't know how to add a pixel without losing transparency.

Normally, you would use the downloadable transparent.ico file from the tutorial with the Transparent_shortcut_overlay.reg to see the full shortcut icon without an overlay on it.

    What did you see instead?

Thank you, but that's not the problem. This is what I have asked help with: "That's brilliant NotMe! Would you be so kind as to walk a simple user like me through how to add the pixel without losing transparency or the ico format? Would MOST appreciate it. HATE those shortcut icons that mess up my custom ones." It was in response to "notme" user idea.

Notme has that nearlyblank.ico available for download in his post below if you like.

Thank you, thank you, thank you and let's hope Microsoft doesn't sabotage this fix either. NotMe is a genius and you, Brink, are very kind to answer, answer so fast, and point out the downlead to me.

Just add ".0" at the end line of value data you enter in 29 (string value) and it will work like a magic. :)
