Rearranging the context menu (right click)

I know there's a lot of programs that can add and remove stuff from the context menu when you right click a file or folder but is there a way to rearrange the standard windows entries to a different position? Example...

    This is the original

    To this

When I'm in a hurry i am forever clicking delete instead of rename.

    Hello @sea skimmer,

I don't think it is possible for the default entries, although they are included in the registry for the most part!

Have a look at => Order in the Windows Explorer context menu.
Have a look at => Arranging Context Menu Items.

    I hope this helps!

I think it is much simpler to install OpenShell that add the good old cut-copy-paste buttons in the Explorer window like in Windows XP or older. You can then add/remove icons. You can add a "rename" icon for fast access. I usually add the undo, copy to and move to icons, so I don't have to do two steps to copy or move a file.

I know this is an old thread, but I have Classic Start Menu (similar to Open Shell). Can you explain how you can add cut, copy & then disable them. I've been trying to get rid of cut & copy from my context menu, but haven't figured out how.

    Thank you in advance.

There is no straightforward way. These are essentially embedded into O/S files.
    This gives some clue:

Thanks for the reply & link. I have Resource Hacker, version 5.17, but even though I can see the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\shell32.dll.mui file, when I drag it into Resource Hacker, I get a message that it can't find the file. I took ownership of the file, but I still can't find a way to open it. I see there's a version 5.18, but the update is from April of last year to November.

Is there something else that I have to do to the file to open it in Resource Hacker?

Pardon me if I didn't get it right, I don't have the time to go through the whole thread, but I guess you want cut/copy/paste icons in Windows Explorer like in Windows XP. This is very easy, just install Open Shell (previously Classic Shell). It will add these icons for you and of course let you change and rearange them as you like. For example see mine in the photo below:

You would normally see flat Windows 10 icons, but I didn't like them and replaced with the equivalent Windows 8.1 icons. This is another thread, search for Customizer God.

Thanks for the reply. However, I was actually trying to get rid of the cut, copy, & paste context menu items. I have no need for them because Ctrl+ X or C or V works faster for me. I was able to get rid of them (hide them) in Windows XP using HACE mmm, but that no longer works in Windows 10.

Just for interest, no solution really, I just came across this:
Download Disable Context Menu Items 1.4

albeit it only claims to disable standard context menu entries - and the text for them is still visible (trial/small fee).

    Decent video:

Nice find. I'll check this out tomorrow. Although, I tried to go to https://www.4dots-software.com/disab...ext-menu-items & got the message that "This page isn't working", www.4dots-software.com redirected you too many times.
