Strange. When I click on the link, it asks me to download. What happens when you click on the link?

Windows 10 has changed since I posted about the classic customization in that operating system.

I originally edited that CPL applet because the OP of the thread wanted the W7 Appearance dialog back. The original applet I reshacked had more options, so if anyone wants, here it is, with some modifications to make it W10 friendly:

    Attachment 278752

    Attachment 278753

You can select a screensaver and wallpaper from this one as well.

Note: This applet is donkey years old, so though is allows changing the wallpaper, it only supports it if the image is in bitmap format. Better than nothing, I guess.
How to modify and reset to original settings? I'm looking just to change the borders, not wallpaper. If not mistaken though, I thought they brought back Advanced Appearance in Windows 11?

Ideally make a system image backup because the settings have to be changed individually in this app and it's not easy to undo changes if you don't like the effects. Personally I know which settings I prefer.

Anyway other than that you should backup:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

    and

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors]

Anyway the developer of another app that changes colors in various places states:

Classic Color Panel is an option with a clear interface for the color settings which are not available to users.

Unfortunately, the settings of Classic Color Panel do not always have an impact on the actually displayed image elements. The result depends on the specific Windows version and its settings. Application programs use different display techniques too, which is the reason why their display can be different from the system settings.

Can Windows 11 have its context menu colors changed like Windows 7 does, or does it still have the same fixed colors like Windows 10 has?
