If you want to change size make sure you have backup or else note what you did so that you can undo the steps.

Here's my desktop and context menu:

Here it is if i make it bigger:

    See thread here:

Classic Advanced Windows Color and Appearance Dialog Box

That applet works for me but I use a non aero basic theme. It probably won't work if using other themes.

In any case I've also used Winaero Tweaker and these but you should backup Metrics.

    I've also used sysfontbold.exe

As for the one you were using:

Double click the item highlighted in the red box to get a font size menu to select.

THIS IS AMAZING. I've been looking for that applet (desk.cpl) for over 2 years. I don't know if it will save themes, but it's identical to the one I had in Windows XP. This was my post from over 2 years ago
How find all the desktop appearance items like Windows XP

I just downloaded it & it does load, so I'll see if I can make the changes that I want. You've made some amazing finds! Thank you again!

This is actually quite nice to see, thank you. So you can edit Fonts still with it (I use Classic theme exclusively). IDK why Microsoft keep removing useful stuff and burying it in the registry - they did the same with MIDI driver selection, which can only be toggled via the registry now.

    @Clasurol

You can change font size with it but note current settings or you might end up with a hard to undo mess.

Hey, I just lost that file. I used an uninstall utility to remove a program and it wiped my downloads folder. If you still have it would you mind uploading it?

    Many thanks.

    sure!
I think I did this right. I had to change my profile to "Enhanced Attachment Uploading" to OFF. Then click the paperclip to upload a zip file. Do I change my profile back? I'm not sure what the above option does.

You did it right. Thanks a lot. I could not recover that file by any means and my last system image backup did not include it.

    RE: "Enhanced Attachment Uploading"

I leave that off. As far as I remember it shouldn't affect .zip uploads but I'm not sure.

I originally edited that CPL applet because the OP of the thread wanted the W7 Appearance dialog back. The original applet I reshacked had more options, so if anyone wants, here it is, with some modifications to make it W10 friendly:

Changing the Color of the Context Menu & it's Font-111.png

    DeskA.zip

You can select a screensaver and wallpaper from this one as well.

Note: This applet is donkey years old, so though is allows changing the wallpaper, it only supports it if the image is in bitmap format. Better than nothing, I guess.

Thank you for this. I wonder if my Desk.cpl from WinXP will work in Win10. When you say you "reshacked" it, what did you do? And what modifications did you make?

    Thanks again!
