@dalchina On my system, WinClassicThemeConfig manages to change the background of the explorer windows.
This is the "window" element. However, I need to test if changing the explorer background works on an unmodified setup (I think it does, but I have doubts).
In order to avoid accidents with this tool, I saved all default color scheme/metric in Windows 10 : Windows 10 Win32 schemes : Microsoft : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

The modified Control Panel file is the original Microsoft applet. This is an applet developed from that of ReactOS, with many modifications.
Compared to Microsoft's original, it handles all color values (like WinPaletter and SMACC), some additional metric values, and fonts the same way. It stores schemas in another registry key, which makes old schemas incompatible with this one.

The effect obtained is exactly the same as with the Classic Advanced Windows Color and Appearance Dialog Box of Windows 7. Simply, WinClassicThemeConfig contains more parameters.
