    Windows 10 Pro Startup Screen

i have a pretty odd question...

about a year ago i replaced the windows 10 startup screen with an image of my own, and it has worked wonderfully ever since... now i'm trying to do it on my new windows 10 machine but, for the life of me, i can't remember how i did it!

does anyone know how i might have accomplished this? i thought i might have used a windows tweaking tool like "ultimate windows tweaker" which i have installed on the pc with the startup edit, but looking through the options i don't see where it can be done... i've also searched the pc for any other tool that i might have used but came up empty.

fwiw the pc with the startup edit is a nuc which offers a bios option that allows you to change the nuc's splash screen (intel nuc), but i don't remember ever using this option, but even if did use this option wouldn't i still get the windows startup screen? or would the nuc splash screen override the windows startup screen?

to be clear, this is the windows 10 "startup screen" i'm talking about - my custom image replaced the blue windows icon but, iirc, the spinning dots were still there:

I strongly recommend against this but there is this article.

How to change Windows Boot Logo using HackBGRT

or search google for these two terms

    site:www.tenforums.com customize boot logo

customize win 10 logo during boot with personal image

The later provides links to youtube videos. For the record I have not try any of these procedures.

I believe that changing things at the very basic level leads to eventual failure and with an SSD you see this screen for 10 seconds. That said this is your device.

thanks for the reply, much appreciated...

personally, i've always changed the windows splash screen on my machines and have never run into issues as a result as far as i can tell, but it's been so long since i did it last that i've forgotten how i last accomplished it... back in the day, pre uefi, there were several programs that made the process a snap, but uefi has made it a bit trickier imo.

i've tried hackbrgt, even recently, but it always seems to cause weird behavior during boot whenever i've tried to use it, my custom splash (windows logo replacement) loads fine, but there's always a bright flash as it transitions to the lockscreen image, as if the custom splash screen doesn't stay visible long enough, and it also locks me out of the bios on restarts, have to shut down the machine and turn it on again to get into the bios, my guess is disabling secure boot, which is required by hackbrgt, has something to do with these issues.

anyway, the more that i think about it, i'm pretty sure that i used the nuc's built in logo replacement tool the last time i tried it, on my nuc, it was a breeze and and boots are always very smooth.
