    Color shutdown options from start icon


    Sometimes when in a rush i hit restart instead of shutdown.
    Is there a way to colorize " shutdown RED" ..sleep moon turns yellow .
    Restart can be some other color

    You can avoid having to use the Start menu altogether and use a desktop shortcut with the built-in Windows shutdown command

    shutdown /s /t 0
    (shutdown (/s) the computer immediately (/t 0 = no time delay in seconds)

    shutdown /r /t 0
    (shutdown and restart (/r) the computer immediately (/t 0 = no time delay in seconds)

    You can customise/select the icon(s) any way you want.

    The above trick works quite well. I' been using it for years and even put the shortcuts on the taskbar. The red icon is Shutdown and the green tree is Restart.

    Here are instructions for creating the shortcuts. Once created right click the shortcut, choose properties, change icon:
