Windows 10 This PC showing wrong icon

Hey Berton, I guess we have a difference of opinion on this one (but I respect your opinion).
This is what the gaming development world refer to as a K.S. (Known Shippable).
If Microsoft had designed the icons not be to changeable then I doubt they would have spent countless hours coding the option to change them (i.e. Desktop Icon Settings).
It's more likely that Microsoft has a broken code/string or simply leftover coding from a previous Windows OS.
In any case I thank you and everyone here for trying to help me figure this one out.
People who share their knowledge and experience on sites like these do it because they love to solve issues and help out, and that is tops in my book!

…and sometimes persistence pays!
I guess gaming programmers ‘are’ relevant after all. A software engineer helped me diagnose the problem and determined that the icon issue was actually a part of a larger problem! As it turns out I has to delete a registry key [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons] and reboot to allow Windows to re-find the current .ico. However, this in itself was not the cause. The true cause was my User Profile had become corrupt while upgrading to Windows 10 from 7. Had I simply let this issue go unresolved, I could have potentially lost my entire Profile and everything in it! So, we managed to isolate a previous backup of the User profile in the registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList] and change the Hexadecimal value from 1 to 0. Copy the backed-up User Profile to a thumb-drive and restore it to Windows 10 after deleting the corrupt one. It’s been 24 hours and everything is running fine!
