Do you have "Hide file extensions" turned on? If so, stop whatever you're doing right now and turn it off. "Hide file extensions" is the virus-writer's best friend, and if it's turned on, you're playing with raw nitroglycerin. What if, instead of a .reg file with an extraneous hidden .mp3 extension, you tried to open a file which was really a virus with a hidden .exe extension?
