    Windows 10 Taskbar Tabs

    (Sorry i use the translator)
Hi to all, i humbly propose a question:
On Windows 10 is it possible to change the colors (green loading, yellow pause, red error, over-mouse and selection too) in the "tabs" of the taskbar?
Maybe, modifying some keys in the registry, or modifying the theme (if yes, how? but above all: where is it modified?)
I sincerely thank every possible support.

I'm "breaking" the theme far and wide but nothing changes,
maybe I'm wrong where to look.

I understand almost two days have passed, but no one has any suggestions about it? O_T

Hi Gnop and welcome to Ten Forums.

I believe that the Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) would define the colors that are used on the task bar for the status of programs/icons.

Since the dwm.exe program is closed-source and is run in the background, I don't think it is actually possible to do any program changes or registry tweaks to customise the colors themselves.

There could be the possibility of a third-party software that allows you to change the appearance of the task bar, but probably not specific colors, as they are built into the dwm.exe and Windows 10.

I thank you for the welcome and thank you for the suggestion, very welcome.

I explain the reason for my fixation in wanting to change the colors of loading etc. in the taskbar, I had modified them some time ago in Windows 7 (personally editing the theme files, which was very + simple), but in Windows 10 it is completely different what, but I would particularly like to put them back in windows 10.

So as you explain, the colors of the tabs in the taskbar are in windows 10 managed by dwm.exe, understood, unfortunately I can't find anything to change in this regard, we hope someone will soon give us some tips :)

Yes, sorry I don't know much about how the dwm.exe works. It is possible that those color settings may not even be managed by dwm.exe.

Have you tried what you said you did on Windows 7 to Windows 10?
I imagine most of the themes are structured the same way.

You can find the themes in... Settings > Personalisation > Themes

To get to the actual files... + R and type in:
    %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes

I tried to modify many things, but on the contrary windows 10 does not manage the theme like windows 7 and nothing has been used to make this modification.
if it is possible with a function or modification of the theme or files that we do not know, only a tip of someone can serve.
    Let's hope :)

I was able to open some of the custom themed files, but it seems to only reference the main 'aero theme'. There was a color value also defined in each file but I am unsure what it actually controls.

I have found this list of some 3rd party software you can try. I myself have used 'Winaero Tweaker' before, which allows you to edit many features, and gives access to some customisations that were only available in Windows 7 and 8.
I'm not sure if Winaero Tweaker will help with what you are wanting to do, but its worth a try.

    Sorry to hear.

As far as I know I'm not sure what else to suggest.
However as you said, some other members may have some ideas
