DJG I tried what you said but as others have said when I change back to picture it goes back to white. I also don't have drop shadow ticked. Thanks for the effort and it seems to work for some people but not me and some others, this is no surprise 2me because with Micro$oft Windoze anything is possible Thanks again.

Reviving this old thread as I'm trying as I'm playing around with high contrast themes for the first time. I've downloaded a few from here (thanks for those folks, they are awesome !) to get a handle on the subject.
So, two questions:
Does anyone know of a way to change desktop icon text colors to any color you want and make it stick? I tried Iconoid but it doesn't save.
Does anyone know of any good theme creation tutorials ? I've tried searching the web but keep coming up with info about downloading and applying themes. What I really want to know is what controls what (like a cheat sheet of some sort).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Check out D Color XP; I found that to be vastly better than Iconoid: Download D-Color XP 1.2
Tried D Color XP, same result as with Iconoid. Changes desktop icon text color but it doesn't stick. Anyone know what registry key controls this ?
I use programs that date back to the late 90s; you'd be surprised at how good W10's backwards compatibility is. To cut a long story short: D Color works on W10.
You're leaving D Color/Iconoid open right? If you close them down, you'll lose the font colour changes. They need to be running at all times.
