how to edit Start button text?

in Win7, we edited explorer.exe.mui to change the Start button text
in XP & previous we edited explorer.exe directly

I've done a lot of searching, but cannot figure how edit it Windows 10 (build 18363)?
Even an idea what file(s)/settings would be involved for this edit might be helpful...

    Thanks!

Hi, how do you do that?
I've not noted a discussion on this; the Start menu has nothing to do with file explorer - it's an app.

The nearest thing that may be relevant I can think of is this just as a starter for 10:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...t-start-layout

You will need to explore the documentation and the links there and on the left to see if there's any relevant option available.

on those operating systems, a simple hex edit & replace changes the start button text (the Start that appears when you hover over it)

yes, i searched here and other places, but haven't found a way

i would have expected some more info on this, as it was a common hack for previous OSs

there are many references to 3rd party appz to change, e.g. - the start button image, but if they can do it hiding the procedure behind an app, i though i'd find more info on how to do it directly by editing specific files/settings

and, no, Microsoft is not going to give any instruction on this type of modification

The implementation is totally different in Win 10. There isn't the level of flexibility there was in, say, Win 7. In particular the start menu is rather limited and frustrating compared to Win 7's or Open Shell (free) for example.
