Integrate portable "MediaInfo Lite" in Win 10 context menu

    Hi forum

Is there a way to add "MediaInfo Lite" portable version to right click (for media files only, like photos, videos and audios)?
The portable version folder contains two files: "MediaInfo.exe" and "MediaInfo.dll"

I had a try with "regsvr32" command but it just add the "MediaInfo" text in right click only for photos, and it does not work when I select it!

I can add "Notepad++" portable version to right click for all texts and (almost) all kind of files with a registry hack that is provided by "NP++" author...

    Why not simply install it?
    MediaInfo Lite Features:
Read many video and audio file formats
View information in different formats (text, sheet, tree, HTML...)

    Customize these viewing formats

Export information as text, CSV, HTML...

Graphical Interface, Command Line, or DLL versions available

Integrate with MS-Windows shell (drag 'n' drop, and Context menu)

Internationalization: display any language on any operating system

    Localization capability

I know there is an installer version too, I don't want to install it. I use portable version on more than one PC, I just need simple media information and I use "Lite" version that has no extra options and tabs and menus and is very lite and fast.

K-Lite codec pack has a lite version of "MediaInfo" too, but you have to install full K-Lite codec pack to use "MediaInfo Lite" on your PC!

After apply "regsvr32" command I don't know how to remove that right click menu entry! That's useless, when I select "MediaInfo" from right click nothing happens! (It appears just for photos)... I think I ruined my registry...

    Thank you for your reply.

Exactly - if you delve into your registry without due backups, you put yourself at risk.

There are 3rd party utilities to make adding things to the context menu much safer- and reversible- but - oh dear- you have to install them. So that's no use either. Sorry!

I have "MediaInfo Lite" version 19.09, it is a folder contains "MediaInfo.exe" and "MediaInfo.dll".

    I just applied "regsvr32 drive:\folder path\file path\mediainfo.dll" command in "Windows Run" and ...

I can use that without installing installer version by drag and drop media files onto "MediaInfo.exe" and it provides simple media information in one tab only (which I need), SS below:

    You can download it from:
"https://www.videohelp.com/software/MediaInfo" --> MediaInfo (installer version, there is no portable version of it there, you have to somehow extract those files!)

About one month ago I had a request at "forum.videohelp.com" that how can I use lite version as a portable, and they said (I think one of them was the MediaInfo's author as I remember), I can use these two files as a portable (it works only if you drag media onto "MediaInfo.exe" file window).

Another way that you can get these two files is after installing K-Lite codec pack you can copy those two files (from K-Lite installation directory) to a specific folder and use it as a portable on any PC (you have to choose "Install MediaInfo Lite" option when K-Lite installer wizard options appear).

    Okay, that makes sense.
So, ultimately, you can't have an Explorer right click context menu entry when you jump from one machine to another; that's a given.

Do you have right click entries on your base machine? I do...
