Import all windows 7 icons to windows 10

Hi, now in windows 10, icons are located on:

    C:\Windows\SystemResources\imageres.dll.mun

Is there a way to change all windows 10 icons to windows 7 ones?. I have original imageres.dll from windows 7 and I want to replace all new icons, the problem is that the new dll.mun file contains more icons and can't be replaced with windows 7 dll directly.

Yes; this has been answered at various times.

I use IconChanger (free) which, by running one program, changes 77 icons in imageres.dll

I note its home page no longer exists, but I have the program.

Others use Customiser God and other means.

Note- has to be redone, of course, on each new build (bar 1903-> 1909 I think) so you need an easy means to do this.

Thank you!!, the problem now is that i can't change ownership of C:\Windows\SystemResources folder, because of new protection in version 1909, any idea?

Umm, why would you want to? As you can see from my specs I'm not running 1909.

Last time I used Iconchanger it completed the change without issues.

Previously I did have a problem and had to copy the modified imageres.dll which it placed in its folder manually - which I did by using command prompt offline- no permissions issues. You can find that presented in a thread- should be easy to find if you search the forum for Icon Changer

Or you could use a live boot disk.

Syswow64 and system32 are the occurences you're interested in- I can't recall which one in particular- maybe system32.

    (FWIW I can certainly view C:\Windows\SystemResources in 1903 - can't speak for 1909)

Ok, finally I could copy the file manually from an Ubuntu Live CD. the problem now is that custom folder icon is not changed and also folders with custom thumbnails doesn't change at all, (generic folder icon is changed), and the pin icon is ugly, but the rest is ok, like windows 7.

    Thank you.

If you've correctly copied the changed imageres.dll to the correct location, I can help you no further. Sorry- I'm not the program's author.

My experience of it has been consistent up to build 1903.

I have not tried it with 1909.

You might consider e.g. Customiser God for additional changes- I think someone posted another approach in a thread where I suggested this program.
