    Re: Windowblinds

I recently asked a question here about re-colouring my titlebars and so forth, in the same way as it could be done in Win 7. Specifically, I want to darken and / or re-colour the scroll bars.

S.M.A.C.C was recommended and I DL'd it, although I have not installed it simply because I was informed that it would not deal with scroll bars.

But a recent thread, here, asked about Windowblinds. I had WB years and years ago. Seemed like it did what it said it would do (including modifying the scrollbars) without too much hassle.

However, many of the skins seem like they were originally designed for earlier versions of Windows...although it is claimed that most will work with Win 10. I even recognize one that I had used years ago.

So my question is: Are there any indications that Windowblinds will cause trouble, or put a heavier load on the processor or interfere with other software (including Windows 10) ?

Any good reason to not use it?

You might get some hints by searching for recent threads mentioning WindowBlinds e.g.
    Stardock WindowBlinds

And you might find comments in Stardock's forum.

There are user created Themes in this Forum that are way better than Window Blinds and they are free.

Nice looking themes but the scrollbars are all light grey on white...or so it seemed to me in the half dozen or so pages I looked at.

There are way over 100 themes there. You really cannot get the real look by just glancing at a few Themes. there also is a site called Virtual Customs that has great themes.

    Scrollbar: have you tried this?
    Re: Windowblinds-1.png
    - note 2 registry keys..

Change color of scrollbar in windows 10 - Super User

These are values SMACC modifies, and does include this.

Re: Windowblinds-2.pngTry this and tell us if it works, though I think Superfly commented on this in your previous thread. Thanks.

I don't know if you should install WB just to get colored scroll bars, I'd try some of the other suggestions first.

If SMACC will change the scrollbar colours, I'm gonna give it a try next. But I thought that conversation you mentioned (can't find it now) ended with the statement that SMACC didn't change scrollbars. My apologies.

As I said that's what I recall- no luck- anyway, there are the registry keys- see what happens.

And don't forget my idea on adjusting your graphics adaptor.. as I now see another person comments here:

But I solved the problem on my own! Here's what I had to do. I went into my graphics display settings and adjusted the screen color values. When I made adjustments to the Gamma settings, the scroll bar popped into view! It's now dark enough for me to see easily. I made some minor adjustments to brightness and contrast so that the overall display coloring looked good. But it was changing the Gamma setting that did it for me.

    (old old post)

It seems you can change the size: (not in UWP apps)
Change Size of Scroll Bars in Windows 10

    - and mine turn pale blue if selected with the mouse.
