Spotlight NOT showing Fun Tips on New Laptop. Is this default?

    Hi everyone,
I have a new laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad) that does NOT show spotlight fun tips. I am on update 1909

It used to do so on my old computer ... and also allows me to rate the picture if i like it or not.

I have already read the various threads on clearing the cache, going into registry, etc. but nothing seems to work to "enable" the fun facts. I also noticed that the option to enable / disable fun facts is no longer an option on Spotlight in settings.

Is this a permanent feature now of Win10? Or is it just something wrong with the setup of the new computer?

    Thank you!

Could be 'Cortana Tips' setting needs to be set to on.

All my 1909 machine show those tips when using Spotlight on the Lock Screen. They won't show at boot, but that has always been the case AFAIK.

Try WinKey+L to lock it, do you see them then? If not, it still may not be a Spotlight problem. These tips are specific to each image and seem to be downloaded along with the image. Once in a while I have seen an image with no tips, but when the next new image appeared it had its own tips.

Does your Spotlight change the images? Wait a day or so and check. If not, try resetting Spotlight.

I don't think so, that setting only apples when 'Picture' or 'Slideshow' is selected for the Lock Screen. The OP is using 'Spotlight'.

hi ... thank you everyone for your posts. I tried doing the Cortana Tips setting and originally nothing changed as well so i reverted back.

Then I forgot about this for a while ... then today, miraculously the tips started showing up!

Bree may have been right that the tips are specific to each image... anyways ... i finally am seeing the tips!

    Thanks!

Well apparently ... after that one instance of tips showing ... nothing has been appearing again.

Do you think this has anything to do with Thinkpads? I've seen other thinkpads in the office with the same issue.

Any other help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

My Spotlight Picture now is a deer ... and there doesn't seem any way of changing it.

    Note:
-- i frequently use "hibernate" and "lock screen" but still no fun tips.

    Thanks

No, but mentioning that this is an office situation may be a clue. As I said, the tips seem to be provided separately from the images. It may be something in the way your IT have set up their firewall that's blocking them.
